This professional quality hand ground and finely sifted Henna Powder is known for its dark staining. Ideal for body art or hair coloring.

Pure Henna is safe. Pure henna has been in use for thousands of years. It's one of the safest things you can put on your skin, and reactions are very unusual. Henna only stains a color in the range of orange, red, brown, cinnamon, brick, chocolate or coffee. Natural Henna will turn your hair brown reddish but it can be mixed with various ingredients to change the color. Coffee, Indigo, Lemon Juice, Tea, etc. are some of the ingredients people use for altering the color.

If you've never used henna before, you may want to do a skin test to be sure you're not allergic. The allergy is called a napthoquinone sensitivity. If you put henna on your skin, and in 1 hour have itching, a tight chest, or wheezing, you have a napthoquinone sensitivity and you should not ever use henna again.

Directions For Coloring Hair:
* Mix henna with warm water, or warm lemon juice, and allow the paste to sit from 2-12 hours (as this depends on the dye release of your henna powder chosen). Add enough liquid to make a paste the consistency of pancake batter.
* After dye release has been achieved, then apply the henna paste to your (damp or dry) hair by sections starting from the back and moving forward. Make sure you wear gloves when applying henna, as it will stain your hands.
* Wrap your hair and allow to sit from 1 to 6 hours. The longer you leave the henna in, the more dye will penetrate your hair.
* Rinse or wash the paste out.
* Your hair's color will settle over the next 2 days.
* For redder tones you may add hibiscus or paprika.
* For browner tones you may add coffee, black tea, or even amla powder (this will tone down the red dye and give you great volume all at the same time).
* You may also try out a henna gloss. You can do this by adding some henna powder to your conditioner and let it sit in your hair for 30 minutes as a deep conditioning treatment and be able to achieve a less amount of dyeing.
* Feel free to add orange blossom water, rose water or essential oils to leave your hair smelling great!

Directions for Body Art & Hand Mehendi:
* Measuring the henna powder. Take 2 tbsp of henna powder (about 25 g / 0.88 oz approx of henna), and put it into a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar of your choice, and mix well.
* Adding the lemon juice. Heat some lemon juice (about 1/4 cup) on the stove or in your microwave, and add it slowly to your henna powder. Mix well until it is the consistency of play dough. Cover your bowl and let it sit for 2-3 hours.
* Adding essential oil. Then add 1-1.5 tablespoon of terps (essential oil). Cover again and let it sit for another 8-12 hours.
* Testing the paste. Test your henna paste periodically by placing a bit of paste onto your palm and let it sit for 1 minute. Remove the paste by washing off, and see if you have a bright pumpkin orange stain indicating that it is ready to use.
* Second round of lemon juice. Add more lemon juice (not warmed up) a little at a time and mix well. Do this until you have it to the consistency of toothpaste.
